On October 9, 2024, Algeria and Qatar held consultations on air transport, attended by the heads of the civil aviation authorities, Hassan Boulefelfel for Algeria and his Qatari counterpart, Mohamed Al-Hajri, along with delegations from both countries. These consultations resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the civil aviation sector.
The MoU includes an update to the previous air services agreement, allowing for unlimited flights between the two countries for both passengers and cargo, thus opening new avenues for air transport.
The two parties also agreed to strengthen cooperation in aviation security and safety, as well as to develop air infrastructure, particularly by focusing on the development of Algiers Airport to become a regional air transport hub.
This cooperation aligns with the vision of both countries to enhance economic and commercial ties by facilitating the movement of passengers and goods, while also supporting tourism between Algeria and Qatar.
Qatar also expressed its full readiness to support Algeria by offering training programs and exchanging expertise in various fields, such as aviation security and the development of modern systems and technologies that contribute to improving the aviation sector.
