The establishment and online presence of ANAC align with the State’s policy aimed at developing the national civil aviation system, This initiative enhances visibility for economic stakeholders and air service users, both Algerian and foreign, while ensuring the fulfillment of sovereign responsibilities related to the regulation, oversight, and supervision of activities in this critical and highly sensitive sector.
In this regard, ANAC, under the authority of the Minister of Transport, is required—like all civil aviation authorities in countries that have adhered to the Chicago Convention of December 7, 1944 – to comply with the recommendations and standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
One of ANAC’s key objectives is to position Algeria as a regional hub for air transport by expanding the air transport network, This involves not only enhancing connectivity between different regions of the country but also linking as many domestic regions as possible to international destinations.
Additionally, ANAC plays a crucial role in boosting the national economy by supporting companies in obtaining the necessary authorizations to invest in air transport. The Agency facilitates the establishment of both domestic and international air routes within a legal and regulatory framework that ensures the optimal operation of passenger transport, aerial work, and freight services.
To achieve the objectives set by the country’s High Authorities, ANAC has adopted a strategic approach centered on modernizing management systems through the progressive digitalization of its activities and the ongoing development of aviation legislation and regulations. The digitization process aims to enhance the efficiency of aviation operations while strengthening supervision and safety control programs, civil aviation security, and the facilitation of air transport.
As a regulatory, supervisory, and oversight authority, ANAC ensures compliance with international civil aviation rules and standards. It fulfills its mandate by implementing State policies designed to mitigate aviation safety risks to an acceptable level, manage civil aviation security risks, and develop effective responses to unlawful acts. Additionally, the Agency conducts regular monitoring and enforcement to ensure that all operators and service providers comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Furthermore, ANAC actively participates in forums, seminars, and training programs aimed at improving the quality of civil aviation services in Algeria. In the near future, the Agency will take the initiative to organize such events in coordination with its civil aviation partners.
